-Design review focuses on the overall design of the document.
-Copyediting focuses on global aspects which include logic and format and locals are language conventions along with consistency.
-Proofreading involves eradicating typographical errors in the electronic version without comparing to the original.
-Administrative editing focuses on compliance with the organization’s policies and management of a range of tasks related to electronic.
The Revision Process
Revision of a piece of document or paper play a pivotal role in one writing career; As a matter of fact, when ever one write a paper or a document one need to carefully go over it several times in other to eliminate grammatical errors. Another option could be asking other people who are experts in English to go over your paper for common errors and mistakes. In addition to this, one need to get feedback, make acknowledgment and select strategy.
Redesigning Documents
For this part, one needs to design a pragmatic formula that will help in their revision process. A formula that will give readers the nitty-gritty of what you are actually talking about and meant in your paper or document.
Revision Strategies
As a matter of fact, in other for one to be a successful writer one need to be innovative and creative in their writing styles. This can only be done if one engages in a number of revision strategies that will help them with their document, oral presentation, or visual in a new dimension. Moreover, for this process to be successful and implemented well, one can text changes to encourage re-vision and design changes to encourage re-vision.
Levels of Edit
The word editing means going over a piece of document or paper for grammatical errors. Henceforth, an effective editor can only improves a document’s by going over it at least three to four times and ask other people to go over it too. The term content accuracy is the job of the writer or editor to carefully check on each other for errors. For instance, in the print media there are writers, editors, and editor-in-chief. When the writer writes his stories it is taken to the editorial staff for errors and editing before publication to the general public. The design review basically assures the consistency of all elements of design, from small to large.
Common Copyediting Problems
This aspect of revision and editing include four areas which include: use concrete details, use direct language, use positive phrasing and eliminate wordiness.
-The use of concrete details explains how to use words that are concrete and refer to what actually you are talking and writing about. This will help you make your writing precise and accurate if you use specific details and examples.
-The use of direct language should be simple and very plain. The use of indirect language will result in inappropriate attempt to use inflated or abstract language. So, use words and language that are very easy to understand.
-The use of positive phrasing: effective writers need to put into play positive and good phrasing for several reasons. A good phrasing will send positive signal to the audience.
-The elimination of wordiness: using too many words or the act of wordiness can make your writing difficult to understand because the audience is forced to reinvest through unnecessary wording to read important information.
Proofreading
Before any document is published it has to go through oral presentation and visual approval. One needs to carefully proofread and do a final check. During proofreading, one does not need to add new information and to rewrite. It required a straight check for accuracy and consistency in five different perspectives: mechanical conventions (include punctuation and spelling), grammatical conventions (include grammar and usage), design conventions (include typographical errors and visual displays), disciplinary conventions (include abbreviations and citations) and typographical conventions (symbols and numbers).
Individual and Collaborative Assignments
-Edit sentences for wordiness.
-Revise law to make more comprehensible.
-Use a software editing program.
-Evaluate a software editing program.
-Interview a professional.

Taking the time to spend a great deal of edition is of important to the success of a paper. The more times it is read and the errors are flushed out the better a paper will sound to a reader. This is where I tend to lack is in the English area, so having those with strong backgrounds makes my papers better. I found that if you have someone to read your papers and talk to you about our errors the easier it is for you to write a paper. The more times you do this the less errors you tend to make.
Proofreading is the one thing that most people overlook when there are done writing a paper. Proofreading is a very helpful thing and can be the difference when it comes to a better or worse grade. I have learned from experience that proofreading is a very helful tool when writing anything.
I agree with the thought that proofreading is really overlooked when people write a paper. Proofreading is one of the first steps a person can take to help ensure the quality of there work. Revising documents is a necessary process to take. Not only for a classroom setting, but in the business world as well. I have had some managers in the past that have sent out memos with grammar errors and misspelled words. You tend to question their ability as a manager when you see mistakes like that.
Proofreading to me is like the icing on a cake. Having your paper, or speech, or presentation proofread a few times will make the final product that much 'prettier'. Grammar and spelling mistakes really take away from the message of the document, and they are among the easiest to get fixed. Wordiness and indirect language are a little harder to fix, but when they are fixed, the document gets it's message across easier. Revision is absolutely just as important as the planning and writing stages.
I agree with Jed in the fact that editing and proofreading can sometimes be the most essential part of a document. It doesn't matter how well it is written or how informational the ideas are, if the audience cannot simply follow it--due to grammatically incorrect, punctuation, spelling or even structure errors. I have constantly been reminded of my errors with English papers as well as papers for many other subjects and can substantially affect one's grade. This has helped bring me to realize that these mistakes can alter and change the way the reader looks at the message that is being presented and the reader is able to portray a different meaning, and sometimes it can result in an unclear idea.
Revising a document is extremely important. For my job i have a group of engineers review my work every week. It is amazing how the creater can miss simple mistakes but someone who is reading the document for the first time will catch most or all of the mistakes. Before you put your "signiture" on something you must be sure it is correct and proper. So Proofread!
I think editing and revising are very important factors in writing a paper. It helps to find mistakes you may have done when writing your paper which you may have not seen before. It is very useful in promoting a better, more successful paper with less grammatical or spelling errors.
Editing and revising is a crucial part in technical and written communication. I realy like the way the chapter exlained the difference in revising and editing. These to practices can make the difference between the quality of work you turn in. Also this chapter pointed out proper ways of revision and editing.
Software programs, like MS Word, have become extremely useful for proofreading and editing documents. These programs are able to catch most spelling and grammatical errors, and also offer possible solutions for the errors. Unfortunately, the programs don’t always pick up all the errors in a document, so it’s still a good idea to have someone proofread everything. Besides error checking, many of these programs have a built in dictionary and thesaurus, which I have found to be extremely helpful when I’m composing a paper. It has been my experience that with all of these tools at my disposal, I usually complete most of my revision and editing while I am writing the paper, and require minimal changes for a final draft.
Editing and revising pulls a paper together together to make it more complete. I like to have a couple of different people read over my written assignments to give me ideas on where I can make changes to improve the overall paper. One of my friends ALWAYS has me read her papers to make any suggestions or correct any errors I may see. In my English 101 class we had peer reviewers for our first draft, then we had the teacher review each of our papers and give suggestions, then we would have a final copy. I really liked the way she we edited in that class. I could definately see great improvements over time.
Proofreading and editing are the way to a good grade when writing a paper. These things are usually the most important and your audience will actually be interested if you are using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. It is hard to stay interested in reading an article or paper when all you are finding are errors all over. I always like to use a peer editor to look over anything that I may have missed. You want your final product to look its best not just sound good.
It's always a good thing to revise and edit your paper or speech. It allows you to see what makes sense and what doesn't and if you find something wrong you can take it out or change it. You might want someone else to proofread your paper just to get a different view of the subject and see how other people interpret things.
Editing is something that I need to work on and it is very important thing to do. I don't think anyone can just write a paper and not look at it and be 100% right. Also I will try to have someone else read over my paper which is invaluable sometimes because what might seem to read well to me may not be the same for someone else.
Editing, reviewing, and proofreading, ensure that the paper, presentation or project you finish will be error free. I have always proofread my papers, and I try to find a friend to read and help edit my papers.
Proof reading is one of the most important aspects of making a speech. If it is not proof read you may not only make gramatical errors but also have sentences and paragraphs that make absolutely no sense. I have learned a lot about this in Mgmt 330.
Editing a paper is very important. For me havening someone else look over my paper and catch my small grammar errors. This important for me because i usually i have a lot of mistakes. Also the more times that i read it the more mistakes i catch or even just stuff that i want to change. Even just catching the minor mistakes can make your paper that much better
Edition is key to any good paper. A novice to writing collegiate papers and essays may skip this step and take the chance that they did everything right the first time. I bet half the time they miss dumb mistakes that had they taken the time to proof-read and revise would be non-existant. In my third year of college I have come to realize that proof-reading is necessary. One technique I use is to proof-read by the page. That way, when you finish a 9 page report or something like that, you won't feel like you have to read a novel to get it edited. Another wise thing the chapter mentioned is having someone who is familiar with the English field revise the document. This could eliminate errors that you may not have known were problems and could give you a better grade on your paper.
Proofreading is as important as writing a paper. Revising the paper helps to edit all the mechanical and grammatical errors. Even if the paper does not have any mechanical or grammatical error it is always a good thing to revise the paper. Sometimes proofreading helps to improve the quality of the sentence, making it sound better and smooth.
I know this is late, but I'm going to comment on it anyway. This chapter seemed like it had a lot of info pushed into a small space, like each sentence could be elaborated on with a couple more sentences to help understand. I do agree with the points this chapter makes because editing is something small that can make a difference when you're reading it. A document with bad grammar is distracting and takes away from the message. Good job on the chapter.
